The project
MITRA is being built in India's industrial heartland, on our Hazaribagh campus in Jharkhand. Everything the cascade needs sits inside one boundary wall: carbon intake, banking, cultivation, harvest, extraction, and the material routes for what is left over.
The plant is a working template, not a showpiece. Each block is modular, so the same design can be dropped next to a cement kiln, a steel mill, or an ethanol plant without redrawing the process.
The intent
A single biomass stream fractionated into lipids, proteins, pigments and materials, at yields a buyer can specify against.
Capture decoupled from growth, so an emitter can bank carbon continuously while cultivation runs on its own clock.
Modular trains, on-site fabrication and one control stack, so the next plant is an installation rather than a project.
Capacity and analytics other researchers and companies can use, so the country gets a shared asset out of it.
Inside the plant
Carbon enters at one end and leaves as product, materials and clean water. Select a block on the plant to see what it does.

Built on site
Tube is extruded and pipe is fabricated on site, with tropical adaptations co-developed with our extrusion partner. Building the reactor where it will run removes freight, breakage and long lead times from every future deployment.
On-site tube production

The team
Biologists, process and mechanical engineers, automation and analytics, on one campus in Hazaribagh. The same team designs the reactor, keeps the strains, builds the trains and runs the plant, which is why a change on the bench reaches the yard in days.

Cascade, measured
The cascade has been run end to end on our pilot train, on a single strain, with every fraction recovered and assayed. Yields and process figures are shared under NDA.

Where it stands
Direct air capture and the first cultivation train. First carbon banked, first product out.
Output sustained over months. Two lead products to buyer spec. Proof, not promise.
The full cultivation hall live, zero carbon vented. The template is set.
Clearances complete, external users onboarded. A shared national asset.
Site visits, offtake conversations and research access to MITRA all start with a note.
